What the Hunger Ride is all about.....

Thanks to so many of you who have followed along with me in my journey from Vancouver,BC to Imperial Beach,CA to raise awareness and resources for the work that Food for the Hungry is doing in Ethiopia.
My hope is that you may have been encouraged or challenged to do one or more of the following.....
1. Become more AWARE about global poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa.
2. GIVE of your resources to this crisis.
3. GO to Africa or a developing country and give of your time and energy.
4. Be TRANSFORMED and live a life that Christ calls us to live.
I wanted to post some pics of the new high school that was built last fall by way of YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
from the 2006 Hunger Ride. Thanks to YOU, hundreds of kids in Zeway have a completely different educational experience.
The pics contrast a typical school in Zeway verses the school that was built with the money raised from the Hunger Ride.

Dear Tom,
Congratulations on the completion of "The Hunger Ride!" It has been fun to keep up with you by reading your blog. You have inspired us and we decided to do something about it! We have sponsored a little girl from Ethiopia through Food for the Hungry's website. Her name is Chuchu and she is beautiful. Her eyes just drew us in, they were teary and brave at the same time. We are looking forward to praying for her and writing her. Thanks for the inspiration.
Blessings,
The Spoerke Family

Tom! Thanks for doing the Hunger Ride again...I appreciate your raising awareness and money for Zeway - I was there in March, and am planning on spending next summer there as well. There are incredible needs in that community, and I'm grateful that you are doing what you can to help meet them. That's what this life is all about. You are appreciated!
I saw your blog link from Lauren's blog on Tanzania. What an interesting way to spend your summer. How cool to raise awareness about what is really going on in the world. Congrats for finishing this race...
